Dr. Joynicole Martinez

Dr. Martinez has over 20 years of experience providing capacity-building services, including strategic planning, with a focus on performance management, fund development and impact measurement.

As a community advancement and public health expert, Joynicole has developed projects and garnered funding for initiatives that reach across disciplines to strengthen health and wellness. Her grant writing has won over $110 million toward advancing the community serving missions of her clients. Joynicole is an experienced local, state, and federal grant evaluator. Over the course of her career, Dr. Martinez has evaluated over 20 grants totaling more than $425 million in grant funding.

In addition to her extensive experience in fund development, Joynicole has completed over 150 hours of additional training. She received certificates of completion for intensive evaluation training by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and is certified by the State Auditor’s Office as a Grant Administrator. Finally, Dr. Martinez has presented at numerous local, state, federal and international conferences, including serving as a trainer and keynote speaker for the American Grant Writers Association and the Grant Professionals Association.

A thorough and successful marketing and branding expert, Dr. Martinez provided project management, graphic design, public relations, artists & repertoire (A&R), tour management, and booking services for a dozen artists and three Stellar Award nominated projects while serving as Marketing Director for the independent multimedia company, Masterpiece Christian Records. A Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB), her event and project management experience began with this role, and included managing the development of six albums from the impetus of songwriting and protection of intellectual property to CD press and sale & distribution of products.

Dr. Martinez earned a BA in Political Science from the College of Charleston, an MBA in International Business from the University of Phoenix, a DSc. In Clinical Counseling and a DHSc. in Public Health and Health Science with a concentration in Leadership and Organizational Behavior from A.T. Still Osteopathic Medical University. She holds a certificate in Human Health and Global Environmental Change from Harvard University, and from the University of California at San Francisco Medical School: Nutrition for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Clinical Problem Solving, and Clinical Neurology. Her training and education qualified her certification as a HIV/AIDS Case Management Supervisor, and she continues to work with the PLWHA Population in her now 10th year of supervision.

Dr. Martinez sits on the Board of Directors for the Wisdom To BELIEVE Foundation, serves as the United States Chair for Housing and Development for the All Ladies League (India). Dr. Martinez is featured as an expert in the areas of Business and the Economy, Health, and Social Justice with Women's Media Center's SheSource. Joynicole is a Global Member of FemCity and is a featured contributor to The Carolinian Newspaper, She Owns It, Women on Business, Walker’s Legacy, and Mogul.

Dr. Martinez is a member of various national and international organizations, including: Toastmasters International; National Association of Housing Redevelopment Officials; American Evaluation Association; American Society for Quality; Grant Managers Network; North Carolina Housing Coalition; Organization of Women in International Trade.
